Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 2026
LegalDraft AI ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we collect it, how we use it, and who we share it with when you use our mobile application.
Information We Collect and How We Collect It
We collect the following types of information:
- User Content: The content you actively provide when using the app's AI features — legal documents you upload, scan, or paste; clauses and text you type; messages you send to the AI assistant; and form details you enter when generating a document (for example party names, addresses, dates, salaries, and payment amounts). This content is collected only when you submit it to an AI feature.
- Usage Data: Information about how you use the app, including features accessed and monthly usage counts, collected automatically and stored locally on your device.
- Purchase Information: If you subscribe to Premium, your purchase is processed by Apple; we do not receive your payment details.
- Feedback and Bug Reports: If you choose to send us feedback or report a problem, we collect the message you write together with your app version, device type, operating system version, locale, and subscription status. When you report from a document screen, a copy of that document's text is included unless you untick that option before sending. An email address is optional. This is described in full under "Bug Reports and Feedback" below.
Your document history, chat history, and generated documents are stored locally on your device. We do not require an account, and we do not collect your name or contacts. We hold an email address only if you choose to provide one when sending us a feedback report.
How We Use Your Information
We use the collected information to:
- Generate, review, summarize, compare, translate, and analyze legal documents at your request using artificial intelligence
- Provide and maintain our services
- Enforce free-tier usage limits
- Detect and prevent technical issues and abuse
- Investigate bugs you report, act on feature requests, and reply to you if you left an email address
We do not use your content for advertising, and we do not sell your personal information.
Sharing With Third-Party AI Services (OpenAI)
When you use an AI feature (document generation, review, risk detection, comparison, clause rewriting, summarization, plain-English translation, or the AI assistant), the User Content described above is transmitted over an encrypted connection to our server and then to OpenAI, L.L.C. (United States), which processes it through its API to generate the result you requested.
- What is shared: Only the content you submit to the AI feature — document text, chat messages, clause text, form entries, and any jurisdiction you specify.
- Why it is shared: Solely to generate the AI output you requested. It is not used for any other purpose.
- Protection: OpenAI does not use content submitted through its API to train its models, and handles it under its API data usage policies and privacy policy, which provide protection equivalent to this policy.
- Your permission: The app asks for your explicit consent before any content is sent to OpenAI for the first time, and no content is sent if you decline. You may withdraw consent at any time by contacting us or by declining in the app.
We do not share your personal information with any other third parties.
Bug Reports and Feedback
The app includes a form for reporting bugs and requesting features. Sending a report is entirely voluntary — nothing is transmitted unless you write a message and tap Send.
- What is sent: The message you write, your app version, device type, operating system version, locale, whether you are a Premium subscriber, and which screen you opened the form from.
- Document copies: When you open the form from a document screen, the form offers to send a copy of that document's text so we can reproduce the problem. This option is selected by default and is shown to you before you send; unticking it sends the report without any document content, and we then see only the document type.
- Email address: Optional. If you provide one it is used solely to reply to your report.
- Who receives it: Reports are stored on our own server. They are not sent to OpenAI or any other third party, and they are never used for advertising.
- Retention: Unlike AI requests, reports are kept after processing — that is what allows us to investigate an issue later. We retain them while the issue is open and for a reasonable period afterwards for our records. You can ask us to delete your report at any time using the contact address below.
Data Storage, Retention, and Security
Content you submit to an AI feature is sent to our server only to fulfill that request and is not retained by us once the AI result has been returned to your device.
Feedback and bug reports are the exception. Because their purpose is to let us investigate a problem after it happened, they are stored on our server — including any document copy and email address you chose to include, as described above.
We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures — including encryption in transit — to protect your personal information against unauthorized access, alteration, or destruction.
Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access your personal data
- Request correction of your data
- Request deletion of your data
- Withdraw consent at any time
Children's Privacy
Our app is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new policy on this page.
